The GPS Surge Protection Module is a compact, metal-enclosed device designed to shield GPS antenna feeds in 5G base station environments from destructive lightning transients while maintaining full signal integrity.
Housed in a durable aluminum enclosure (67.6 × 50 × 31 mm), the module features a 2-layer FR-4 TG160 PCB with gold-plated surface finish. The unit connects seamlessly between the GPS antenna and station equipment via N female and SMA female connectors.
The module operates across a wideband frequency range of 1,000 MHz to 2,000 MHz with a characteristic impedance of 50 Ω, insertion loss below 1 dB, and a VSWR ≤ 1.2, ensuring minimal signal degradation during normal operation.
A dedicated 5V SMA female port receives power from the Card Alarm board to supply the GPS antenna, while the AC-coupled SMA female output feeds the clean GPS signal to downstream receivers.
Withstands surge currents of ±3 kA (10/350 µs) and ±20 kA (8/20 µs) at the GPS antenna power input, ensuring uninterrupted station operation after direct or induced lightning strikes.
Covers the full GPS L1/L2 frequency band from 1,000 MHz to 2,000 MHz with insertion loss under 1 dB, preserving signal quality for precise satellite positioning.
Accepts 5V±1V via SMA female input port to supply the GPS antenna, with AC-coupled signal output — enabling a clean separation between power and RF signal paths.
Compact metal enclosure with M6 grounding screw provides excellent EMI shielding and mechanical protection, fully compliant with industrial telecom deployment requirements.
Uses N female for the GPS antenna interface and SMA female for signal output and power input — ensuring compatibility with standard telecom cabling infrastructure.
Operates reliably from -10°C to +55°C and withstands 5%–85% relative humidity, making it suitable for outdoor and harsh indoor 5G station environments.
